Why I went with the Manduka Mat

I think it may be time to get a new yoga mat. My old PVC mat is just not cutting it anymore. The good ol’ PVC mat that I’ve been using is somewhat embarrassing. My mat started to fall apart, with gaping holes here and there. It started to smell like gym. I must admit I didn’t expect shopping for a yoga mat to be so difficult at first.

To my surprise yoga mats don’t just differ by color. The prices were pretty serious too, there was no joking around with $150 yoga mat bag. There was a myriad of colors and textures, lengths and widths and so on. I though I would set my money limits first. Just over Fifty dollars was something I could spend on a yoga mat.

I went online and found a neat little site, ran by yoga teachers. It was called “Yoga Mat Reviews” duh. The site was operated by a group of yoga teachers who really knew what they were doing. In addition to their reviews, they had tons of user comments. I narrowed it down to three choices – Jade, Manduka and Gaiam. I noticed that Manduka Mats were the longest lasting, so I went with the BlackMat Pro – the most expensive choice.

I was excited I bought the Manduka Mat. You can read the review at “Yoga Mat Reviews” here – The Manduka Mat overview.

The mat is doing an excellent job in supporting and cushioning. It’s a bit heavy, but it does not bunch up and never slides. I’m going to write more reviews, as this mat got me very excited.
